A Watched Pot Never Boils...

Things turned not so happy (and ugly!) rather quickly.
We had a fun time in Fairfield for Christmas, especially spillin' the beans to those who didn't already know about our little bun.
14 weeks--feeling better, but super tired! I'd like to think that this looks a lot different than I look un-pregnant...
Russell's starting to grow his "sympathy baby" and a mustache, which is coming off in about a week. (Darn...)

So, hopefully it's pretty clear now that we're having a baby. Congrats to us--we're excited! Right now is the not-as-fun part where the new excitement/shock of it all meets the reality that we actually are going to have a little kid and lines are kind of blurred. Here's the problem: all I want to do is buy baby clothes, but we don't know the gender yet. I would like to wear maternity clothes, but they'd look foolish because there's not much to fill them in. (I am employing a hairband around my jeans button, though.) We're picking out some names, but July 19th is so far away, we'll probably forget or change our minds about the current ones. I suppose what this all boils down to is: I'm impatient and I'm sure it's only going to get worse.

On a bit of a less complain-about-a-good-thing note, the Snow Riders season has officially started! Snow Riders is a club at my Middle School that I'm adviser for because I love Russell. We have 8 trips from Jan.-March where we go to various ski resorts in the Reno/Tahoe region on Saturdays. Russell gets a free lift ticket and I would too if I wasn't so busy growing our child; I get some nice lodge time. We took a trip up to Alpine Meadows yesterday and it was snowing and cold, but apparently nice powder to board on, so it was a good day for all. Next week we are going to Mt. Rose, a local favorite, and if the lovely snow keeps falling, it should be another great day on the slopes. All I really want is a snow delay for school--is that so much to ask?
